PAN MACMILLAN SHRIEK IS HERE!
Just got my author copies tonight! It looks excellent! And coinciding with that, a blurb for the book from Steve Erickson, one of my favorite authors, the writer who brought us Tours of the Black Clock, Arc D' X and many others.
There's a madness in Jeff VanderMeer's literary eye, and I would be a liar if I didn't admit it seems intimately familiar. VanderMeer envisions an outlaw literature of shrieks and shouts and a screaming across the sky, worth a thousand polite and respectable mutterings. I, for one, am listening.
Anyway, a very celebratory night! (Which is good, after an hour of cardio at the gym, two hours of weight lifting, and a couple of racquetball games....)
Now it's off to collapse.

Gwenda--yeah: Although our work is very different, Erickson has been a huge influence on me. I love his stuff.

So even though I've read this already, I want to get the new, improved, and bulked up edition. Should I get the Pan Mac, or wait for the Tor hardcover?

It's much, much different from the version you read. 25,000 words added, another 20,000 revised a lot.
As for which to get--I leave that up to you. There are maybe five edits, including deleting two paragraphs, that I couldn't get done in time for the Pan Mac edition, but nothing that would ruin your reading pleasure in any way.
If I had my druthers, tons of people in the British Commonwealth would buy the Pan Mac edition and tons of people in the US/Canada would by the Tor edition.
Of course, it also depends on whether you prefer hardcovers or paperbacks.
I'll post the projected cover for the Tor edition soon, too.

I prefer hardcovers, but I may not be able to wait until it's in hardcover in the US. Thinking...
Regardless, I'll definitely be snagging a copy.
