ADMINISTRATIVE DETAILS

Since I switched to the new "skin" for this blog, I have lost (or misplaced) the comments on previous posts. I hope to restore both the comments AND my links to other blogs soon.

In the meantime, I'm curious as to how many people visit and read this blog. Am I writing for an audience of three or four, or more? Let me know by posting a comment to this thread. I'd like a sense of whether I should continue to spend time on this blog.

Thanks for the comments, including the one from my stalker.

My problem is, I can't post every day. And I think there is an expectation that there should be a new post every day.

Me too, Jeff. I read it. Do you use any of the counters like blogpatrol, that tell you how people came to your page? That's one way of checking up on your audience.

Read your blog far more often that you post. Which might be unhealthy because re-reading all the Shriek excerpts has made the anticipation quite maddening.

Hey--the last Anonymous, directly above--email me. By being less anonymous you might become less maddened by the anticipation.

Hey Jeff,

I'm here.

dont' stop! Your posting might be erratic, but it's usually a gem when it's there. Don't you find it useful yourself though? I think people like Neil Gaiman who blog almost every day make people expect the same from others. Only takes a minute to check if you've written though, doesn't mean people won't come back.

But then, people shouldn't force themselves to do something they don't want to do. :)

all the best

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the feedback. I enjoy posting, when I can do it on my schedule and not feel rushed. It's oddly therapeutic, in that I can post things that seem in a way more personal to me, in a writing-related sense, from time to time, than seem appropriate for a message board or my e-newsletter. But I will try to post every couple of weeks, at the very least. Luckily, with my Shriek novel almost done, I will be able to post more often. There are SO many books I want to write about, including the new Clare Dudman, 98 Reasons for Being, which is as spectacular as her first one!!!!!!

I check in every few days to see if anything new is up. No expectations, but it's always a nice surprise to see something new.
